The town I live in just passed an anti-discrimination ordinance, prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual preference or gender expression. Bathroom panic— paranoia that straight male perverts will disguise themselves as transgendered people to gain access to ladies restrooms!— forced an amendment to the bill, virtually mandating discrimination against transgendered people in locker rooms and rest rooms. The level of self-righteous bigotry is dismaying, but it’s a start!

This slogan is a terrific example of how deeply embedded homophobia is, especially as most straight people and even some gay people don't get the problem with this slogan right away.
