The image attached is a photograph of a drawing which is part of "The Ancestry Archive" - series of drawings, made of carbon paper marks on paper (2011, Joana Roberto).

The drawing is based on an aviator badge, an insignia that is used in most of the world’s militaries to designate those who have received training and qualification in military aviation. The symbol is also known as Pilot’s Badge, or Pilot Wings and was first conceived to recognize trained military aviators and to provide differentiation between military pilots and the “foot soldiers” of the regular ground forces.
